Ungwana was a female crocodile that lived in the Pride Lands, a member of Pua's float and younger sister of Makuu and Ukuru. She perished soon after her mother's passing.

Background[]

Ungwana hatched from Nyota's clutch near Lake Matope in the Pride Lands, along with her siblings Makuu, Ukuru and many others. However, the float was forced to flee the Pride Lands when the hyenas were allowed into the kingdom and the herbivores left. Most of Nyota's clutch perished, leaving only Ungwana, Makuu and Ukuru. Unfortunately, she died some time after her mother passed.

Personality[]

Much like Kitwana as a hatchling, Ungwana was naive, innocent and a bit gullible, not realizing her mother had died and asking when she would catch up until Ukuru tells her she's dead in a harsh manner. However, she was also a sweet little croc, and loved her mother and brothers dearly.

Appearance[]

Ungwana was a baby crocodile with light green coloration, dark spines and claws, and two dark spots on her cheek. Her dark pupils were wider than normal, and her sclera were yellow.

A Crocodile's Journey[]

Chapter 4[]

Ungwana appears in a flashback taking place after Nyota's death. Confused as to why their mother isn't around, she asks Makuu when she will catch up, but her brother Ukuru snaps that Nyota has died. Pua scolds Ukuru, but it's too late, and Ungwana starts to weep, being comforted by Makuu.

Relationships[]

Family[]

Like Makuu, Ungwana had a close relationship with her mother, and was very confused when Makuu caught up with the float without her. She innocently asked when Nyota would arrive, not realizing what had happened. She was also close with Makuu, who became especially protective of her after making the promise to his mother.

On the other hand, though she loved her brother Ukuru, she felt intimidated by his aggressive attitude, and was always yelled at by him, despite Makuu and Pua scolding him for it. However, Ukuru's grieving after her death implies he did care for her.

Trivia[]

  • She loved catching crickets with Makuu.
  • She was of the last bunch of eggs to hatch from Nyota's clutch.
  • The circumstances of her death are yet unrevealed.
  • Part of the reason Makuu is fond of Kitwana is because his personality reminds him a bit of Ungwana.
