Anga lenga!
―Anga's catchphrase

Anga is a female martial eagle who lives in the Pride Lands. She is the biological daughter of Hakuna and Hiyo, the adoptive daughter of Ajali and Sukuma, and the adoptive sister of Ono. She became the keenest of sight on the Lion Guard following Ono's loss of sight.

She is a main character in Legends of the Lion Guard.

Appearance[]

Anga has predominantly dark brown and white feathers with black underlining. Her head and chest are fully white and have darker speckles on them, while the tips of her head feathers are black. She has a two-tone gray beak, gray feet, and black talons. Her eyes are blue with yellow sclarae. In Legends of the Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands, she gains a purple Mark of the Guard on her left wing.

Personality[]

Anga is shown to be very blunt and is not easily impressed or amused, which often results in awkward interactions with others. When interacting with those that she cares about, Anga shown to be very affectionate and gentle. She is also very encouraging, especially towards Ono.

History[]

Backstory[]

Anga was born to Hakuna and Hiyo in the Pride Lands, though she was orphaned by them before she hatched. One day, a female egret named Sukuma found the unattended egg, choosing to tend to it until its parents returned for it. However, Sukuma and her mate, Ajali, never found the parents and chose to raise the egg with their unborn hatchling. Anga hatched first, then afterward her adoptive brother, Ono. Despite not being an egret, Anga was successfully raised by Ajali and Sukuma and befriended Kion and his Lion Guard, supporting Ono when he became its keenest of sight. Anga frequently helped the Guard in battles and formed a close friendship with each and every member. When Ono became blinded by vog after a major clash, Kion appointed Anga as the new keenest of sight on the Lion Guard while appointing Ono as the smartest member.

Legends of the Lion Guard: Protectors of the Pride Lands[]

The Pride Lands Games[]

Anga attends the Pride Lands Games.

Team Play[]

Anga joins the Lion Guard as they search for Busara, saying that she was visiting Nita and Makini and wanted to say hello. She and Ono work together to find Busara, spotting him in Embamba Canyon. They are unaware that Duma has overheard, and he reports his discovery to his coalition, who plot to find the antelope before the Lion Guard. Anga and Ono soon use their sight again, finding Busara trapped with Janja's Clan and Duma's Coalition closing in on him. The birds are assigned to free the baby antelope, and they talk about the easy task. They soon find Busara, and Anga lifts the rock his hoof is trapped under off him. She and Ono then start leading him out the canyon, and the Guard joins them by an acacia tree. Once Busara is reunited with his parents, Anga flies off.

The New Heroes[]

Anga joins the Lion Guard as they patrol Mizimu Grove. When Makini reports that Timon and Pumbaa are being attacked at the watering hole by Kiburi's Float, she, Makini, Mhina, and the Lion Guard rush there, only to be stunned by two lions fixing the crisis instead. They introduce themselves as Gina and Tapu. After continuing their patrol, Nyata and Shupavu happen to overhear the Guard complaining, and report this to Reirei and Goigoi. Meanwhile, the Guard has just finished patrolling Lake Matope when Ono suddenly reports that Reirei's Pack is attacking Rafiki at Mizimu Grove. Anga, Makini, Mhina, and the Guard head there, finding Gina and Tapu with each other. Gina points to Rafiki, who has already defeated Reirei and Goigoi with his martial arts skills. She and Tapu then apologize for making the Guard feel replaced, which they accept. Kion soon sends the Guard back to the Lair as he stays behind.

Kion and Nguruma's Birthday[]

Anga attends Kion and Nguruma's birthday celebration. When Makucha's Leap and Kiburi's Float attack, Kion assigns her and Jasiri to stop the leopards.

An Unknown Threat[]

Anga flies up to the Lion Guard as they patrol Ukuni Woods, requesting to join their patrol, and Kion allows her to. She watches as he drives off Kucha and her hyenas with the Roar of the Elders, and returns to Pride Rock with the Guard to report what happened to the pride. Anga rests in the Lair, but she and the Guard soon learn from Makini that Nguruma and Na'Zyia are being attacked by Kucha at Lake Shangaza. She arrives there to help fend them off, and patrols with the Guard at Mekundu Cliffs. After Kucha's Clan is defeated for the final time, Anga says that she has to go and flies off.

Mhina's Tale[]

Anga flies up to the Lion Guard and Mhina as they patrol Ndefu Grove, reporting that two jaglions are attacking Kuuma, Uchoraji, and Mahuluti at Lake Matope. As the Lion Guard and Mhina depart to handle the situation, Ono invites her to come along. After defeating the jaglions, who are actually Mhina's renegade idols, Sakina and Amun, and reporting to Kion's family, Anga joins the Guard in the Lair. She reports that everything in her life has been peaceful and agrees with Kion when he reassures Mhina that he'll stop the anti-hybrid sentiment. After defeating Sakina and Amun for the final time, Anga flies off, noting that she has a new lookout spot she wants to scout out.

A Wonderful Royal Summit[]

In the early hours of the morning, Bunga excitedly exclaims to the Lion Guard that they need to hear what Pumbaa did at the watering hole yesterday. He proceeds to tell the hilarious story to the sleepy Guard, and muddled with exhaustion, Anga huddles with Ono. After Bunga finishes, Anga leans against Ono, her eyes closed. Just then, Kiara appears at the entrance to the Lair, informing the Guard that Simba needs them at the peak of Pride Rock immediately. There, Simba reveals that an event will be held in Mizimu Grove, and as he leads the Lion Guard, Royal Family, and Mjuzis there, Ono suggests that the king wants them to witness something important. Anga points out that it's too early for the baobab blossoms to start blooming, but the egret adds that it could be something that physically requires their attention. The Lion Guard is then led into Mizimu Grove, and Simba announces that a Royal Summit between every kingdom is being held. Shortly after, the Guard listens as the summit begins and concludes with the induction of new allies in Kuro's Herd.

Wildfire Emergency[]

Anga and Ono fly above Beshte, shielding him from the dry season heat, but they accidentally leave him unguarded when they fly down to hear what the other Lion Guard members are discussing. Ono swiftly points out that Beshte is being sunburned, and scanning the area, Anga spots the Mud Pots in the distance. Relieved, Kion encourages her to lead the way, and she flies alongside Ono. Suddenly, a flash of light overtakes the Pride Lands as well as a loud noise, and Ono asks Anga what that was. Bunga questions if it was lightning, confused because there is no thunderstorm, and Ono explains that the phenomenon was dry lightning, which can cause wildfires. Kion orders Anga to scan for damage, and she spots three massive wildfires enveloping in the Pride Lands, each located in Chakula Plains, Mbali Fields, and Poromoko Crevasse; animals are trapped and there is a lot of smoke. Kion rapidly dishes out orders, ordering Anga and Ono to do what they can to put out the fires at Poromoko Crevasse, and they fly off. Upon arriving, they throw sand and dirt onto the flames, embers stuck in their eyes. Anga observes that they aren't achieving anything, which makes her and her adoptive brother's hope diminish, and failing to see Ono clearly, she states that this isn't working - they cannot fight alone.

Ono, remembering saving Bunga's life, huddles with her, and she wraps a wing around him. He agrees that they need to find another way, and scanning the horizon, Anga declares that they need backup. Ono protests that Poromoko Crevasse will be destroyed if they leaves the fires, but she retorts that they have to take their chances, and he gives in. Ono asks who will help them, and using her eyesight, Anga notices Ma Tembo's Herd in Kilio Valley. She informs Ono of her findings, and they immediately fly to Kilio Valley, approaching Ma Tembo. Seeing their state, she asks what's going on worriedly, and Ono desperately clarifies that Poromoko Crevasse is on fire and that animals and habitats will be lost should the fires spread any further. Zito huffs that there has been no lightning to cause a fire, much to Anga and Ono's ire, but Ma Tembo persuades him into helping and pledges her assistance. Ono and Anga lead the way to Poromoko Crevasse, and from there, they get to work dumping more sand and dirt onto the flames. With the help of the elephants, the fires are extinguished, and Anga thanks them for their help. Ono adds that they're not out of the woods yet, as there's still fires in Chakula Plains and Mbali Fields that need to be put out. Quickly, they move to Chakula Plains, and Kion, seeing Anga, Ono, and the elephants, calls for their help.

Once the fire at Chakula Plains is put out, the other animals proceed to Mbali Fields, and Anga and Ono dump more sand and dirt onto the flames despite the ache in their talons. Zito, observing the two's desperation among a wide variety of factors, finally chooses to pitch in for himself. After the Mbali Fields fire is extinguished, Anga celebrates with the Lion Guard, noting that they didn't let their home get destroyed and that the Pride Lands will thrive for seasons to come.

Legends of the Lion Guard: Battle for the Pride Lands[]

Anga, Mhina, and Jasiri join the Lion Guard as they patrol Mizimu Grove, and Beshte comments that it's great they're helping. Ono suddenly reports that Janja's Clan is attacking Vuai at Urembo River, and the patrol rushes there, easily defeating the clan. Kion then takes the patrol into Chekundu Cliffs, but not long into it, Ono brings word that Kiburi's Float is attacking Timon and Pumbaa at Lake Matope. The crocodiles are swiftly defeated by Kion, who leads the patrol back into Chekundu Cliffs. They soon finish, but learn Reirei's Pack is attacking Nguruma, Hasani, and Shauri at Lake Kiziwa. The patrol rushes there, and the jackals are promptly sent back with the Roar. Everyone returns to Pride Rock, and the Lion Guard, Mhina, Anga, and Jasiri settle in the Lair. Zazu suddenly flies in, reporting that Kiburi's Float is attacking Rafiki at Ukuni Woods. Kion leads the patrol there just in case Rafiki needs them, but they learn that he already has everything handled himself. Anga states that she needs to go, flying off. Later, Anga and Mhina join the Lion Guard in Nyani Grove, reporting that Na'Zyia is being attacked by Janja's Clan at Maji Baridi Falls. She, the Lion Guard, and Mhina rush there, rescuing her, and Kion blasts the hyenas away with the Roar of the Elders.

He then leads everyone to Chakula Plains for another patrol, but Ono suddenly brings news that Diku is being attacked by Mzingo and Mwoga at Mapango Cliffs. Quickly, everyone rushes there, and the vultures are swiftly defeated. Kion leads the Lion Guard, Mhina, and Anga back to the Lair, where Marigold and Nguruma join them. Later, Anga patrols with the Lion Guard in Embamba Canyon, and Mhina soon joins them. When he and Kion exchange a significant glance, Anga glances at Fuli and Beshte. When Ono reports that Nguruma, Timon, and Pumbaa are being attacked by Reth's Pride at Lake Shangaza, Anga joins the Lion Guard and Mhina as they rush over to stop the pride. She then returns home with the rest of them, and settles in the Lair. Later, Anga, along with Mhina and Jasiri, join the Lion Guard on patrol in Mizimu Grove, and Ono expresses his gratitude that his adoptive sister has arrived. She pointedly mentions that they're here to help, softening her expression and joining Ono in the sky. Soon, the latter reports that Varya is being attacked at Mekundu Cliffs, and everyone quickly rescues her. Kion then leads the Guard, Anga, Mhina, and Jasiri to a patrol in Kilio Valley, but before they can get there, Ono reports that Wema is being attacked by Reth's Pride at the watering hole. They head off there, quickly defeating the lions, and everyone sans Jasiri returns to Pride Rock to settle in the Lair. Things are peaceful for a while until Makini runs inside, tears in her eyes. She cries that Kucha's Clan has kidnapped Nguruma, and she doesn't know where he is.

Ono and Anga, using their sight, find Nguruma in the Outlands and report back. Anga, along with Fuli, reassures Makini that it's not her fault Nguruma was taken, and she follows the others to the Outlands, soon reaching the volcano. Anga and Ono find the blind lion trapped around steam vents, and they, the Lion Guard, Mhina, and Makini begin formulating a plan. While Kion heads off to confront Kucha, Anga joins the others as they approach Nguruma, and she is assigned to deal with Kucha's allies along with Bunga and Beshte. They soon return, having dealt with them with ease, but the volcano begins to erupt. Everyone quickly escapes and reunites with Kion at an acacia tree. Anga soon leaves, having found another place she needs to scout. Later, she joins the Lion Guard on a patrol in Acacia Grove, along with Mhina and Jasiri, and she brings news that she spotted Jivin, Rani, Baliyo, Kenene, and Ullu at the watering hole on her way to her friends. Upon arriving there, Jivin explains that he has come to speak with the Royal Family, and the visitors are escorted back to Pride Rock. Rani and Baliyo join the Lion Guard and their allies on a patrol, heading to Mizimu Grove, unaware that Scar is plotting to keep them distracted. The patrol in Mizimu Grove is soon finished, but Ono suddenly reports that Sarabi is being attacked at Urembo River by Kiburi's Float, and everyone rushes over there to rescue her. When the crocodiles refuse to leave, Kion assigns Anga, Rani, Jasiri, and Baliyo to deal with Nduli and Tamka, and they all rush forward upon the attack commencing. After Kion calls for them to regroup, the Guard, Mhina, Anga, Jasiri, Rani, and Baliyo get behind him as he roars Kiburi's Float out of the Pride Lands. Once Sarabi leaves, Anga flies off.

Later, Anga patrols Mbali Fields with the Guard, spotting Mhina and his family at the Lake Matope border. At Pride Rock, Simba suggests for Mhina's siblings to patrol with Anga and the Guard, which they agree to. They patrol Rocky Ridge, but Ono reports that Vuai is being attacked by Janja's Clan, with Anga adding that he's outnumbered. At Maji Baridi Falls, Kion orders her, Fuli, and Vuai to attack Shenzi and Banzai, and they rush forward. When Kion prepares to use the Roar, everyone gets behind him. Once the hyenas are defeated, Anga flies off again. While on patrol in Ukuni Woods, Ono reports that Anga and Mhina are coming. Upon arriving, the latter inquires if there has been any situations, and Beshte shakes his head. Suddenly, Ono breaks the news that Nita and Mahuluti are under attack by Kiburi's Float, and the Guard rushes to Lake Kiziwa to save them. Kion orders Anga, Ono, and Bunga to deal with the crocodiles with Mahuluti's help. Mahuluti pins Tamka, and Anga soon follows. Eventually, Kiburi's Float is roared away, and the Guard patrols Mekundu Cliffs. Before they can head to Urembo Meadows, Anga says that they have a situation - the hyenas and jackals are attacking Rafiki and Makini at Mapango Cliffs. Kion leads the Guard there, assigning Fuli, Beshte, Ono, and Anga to deal with the jackals. However, when Ono mentions the arrival of Kiburi's Float, he tells him that he can fend them off with Anga instead. The two dive toward Tamka and Nduli, sending them into a baobab tree. After seeing a flaming lion's head, Kion calls the Lion Guard behind him, and uses the Roar of the Elders to send the Outlanders flying back.

Rafiki then examines a mark on the ground, revealing that it belongs to Scar and that he has returned. Alarmed, the Guard heads to Pride Rock to inform the Royal Family, entering the den. Later, Anga relaxes in the Lair with the Guard, and they see Simba at the peak, where he tells them to fetch the kingdom delegations. At the watering hole, they greet the parties and return them to Pride Rock. Kion then leads the Lion Guard and their allies on a patrol of Urembo Meadows, but soon, Anga suddenly reports that Kiburi's Float is attacking Kuuma and Mahuluti at Lake Shangaza. Quickly, they rush there, and the crocodiles are defeated shortly after. The rest of the Guard and their allies, sans Kion and Mhina, then head back in the direction of Pride Rock. Some time afterward, Anga attends the meeting that reveals Scar's return, then relaxes in the Lair, and she soon joins the Lion Guard in a patrol of Big Ravine. Ono asks if she'll fight beside him, which she confirms warmly, adding that she'll always be by his side. Suddenly, Zazu flies up to them, frantically reporting that the Outlanders have invaded the Pride Lands and that the war has begun. Kion assigns Anga, Ono, and Bunga to go to Chekundu Cliffs, and they rush there, taking on the hyena clans. Zazu observes them struggling to fight the hyenas, so he warns Simba, who orders Mshale's Lion Guard to help them. Upon arriving at Chekundu Cliffs, Mshale says that they need their strength, and the lions charge into battle. Ono and Anga swoop down, pecking and clawing at the hyenas, and Anga flies toward Janja with her talons out. Without warning, Shenzi and Banzai knock her to the ground and pin her down by her wings, making Ono claw at them relentlessly until they release her.

Anga realizes that this isn't working, and she and Ono fly toward Bunga. Some time afterward, Anga makes up the birds in Hadithi's army that surrounds Reth's Pride at Rocky Plateau. As the other birds attack the pride, Anga and Hadithi dive toward a rapidly-falling Marigold, catching her, and Anga reassures her that she's okay and that she'll be brought to Fuli. They fly back to her, relieving Fuli, and she instructs Anga to fetch herbs. She agrees to, and she flies off. Back at Pride Rock, Fuli explains to Marigold's grandparents that Anga is bringing herbs to ease her shock. Later, during the final battle, Anga slams into Mzingo, and Hadithi praises her. When the Lion Guard returns from defeating Scar in the caldera, Anga excitedly notes their presence in relief. Ono admits that things still look hazy, and Anga flies over to him, joining him on Beshte's back. She comments that his eyes look different, and he squints, hardly being able to see her outline. Ono shudders, and Anga protectively wraps her wing around him as Beshte quickly offers to take him to Rafiki, which he agrees to. Anga reassures him that she'll be there, and Fuli says that they'll all go. As Kion examines his scar in a puddle, Anga keeps her wing around Ono. After Kion accidentally roars Bunga out of the Outlands, Anga offers to find him, spotting him dazed and confused in Chakula Plains. Just a short time later, Anga, the Lion Guard, and Rafiki enter the Lair of the Lion Guard, and Anga stands next to Ono.

She wraps a wing around him, saying that she's proud of him, her eyes shining with pride and affection. Ono soon confesses that he's not the keenest of sight anymore, but he knows who is - Anga. Shocked, she asks if he's sure, and he notes her ability to fly higher and see just as well as him. She hesitates, not wanting to replace him, but Ono states that it's fine. Kion agrees with Ono, placing his paw on her wing and giving her the Mark of the Guard, effectively making her the keenest of sight of the Lion Guard. Ono mumurs that he isn't a member of the Guard anymore, but Kion tells him that Anga is right, and also gives him a Mark - this time for the smartest member. Simba then leads everyone out of the Lair so Kion and Mhina can have alone time.

Legends of the Lion Guard: The Dark Prophecy[]

Before departing the Tree of Life, the Lion Guard meet up with their friends and family, and Nita approaches Anga and Makini. She comments that she's gonna miss them, adding that she can't wait to hear about the Tree of Life when they get back. Makini promises to tell her everything, and Anga nods, stating that they'll miss her too. Using her wings, she pulls Makini and Nita into a hug. The Lion Guard then heads out, soon traveling into the Back Lands. When Ono sees something behind some rocks, Kion asks Anga to take a look, but she finds nothing of importance. Ono apologizes, dejected, and Anga wraps a wing around him comfortingly. Shortly after, Kion experiences a bout of scar pain, and sharing a glance with Makini, Anga suggests that he could use tuliza. Upon seeing Nguruma relax on Beshte's back, Kion leaves the group in order to look at his reflection. Eventually, they reach the Mountain Pass, where they are greeted by Ullu and Rani, and the latter begins to lead them to the Tree. There, they bow before Janna, and after Kion and Ono are examined, Rani takes them on a tour of the Tree of Life. At Ciso River, Anga is astonished by her surroundings, remarking that there's a lot to see here. Ono says that he can't wait to see it once his sight is healed, nestling closer to her, and Anga agrees with him. One day later, before Ono's healing begins, Anga agrees that it's exciting, watching Ono affectionately. Once Ono regains his sight, he rests his gaze on Anga, who tells him that she's so happy for him.

Ono then asks if she wants to fly with him and explore the Tree together, delighting Anga, and she instantly agrees. Kion allows them to, and the two fly out. Following the attacks from Reth's Pride, Anga flies to Marsh Forest, remarking that Bunga defeating the pride was "stinky." Later, the Lion Guard and Night Pride settle outside the Tree of Life, and Anga remarks that there is a lot to be seen here, to which Ono concurs in agreement. Shortly afterward, the Lion Guard and Night Pride are outside of the Tree of Life, and Rani leads them on a patrol of Desert Plains. On Beshte's back, Anga wraps a wing around Ono, saying that the Tree of Life is beautiful. After Ullu reports an attack, Anga asks where it is, and she mentions Winter Woods. There, Mhina questions where Cek's Flock is, and Anga frantically reports that they're cornered by the lake. Some time afterward, Anga joins the Lion Guard, Night Pride, and Kingiza on a patrol of Marsh Forest, and upon being prompted by Rani, she and Ono report that all is clear. On another day, Anga glances at Ono affectionately as the Guard and Rani discuss Kion. Beshte comments that they're friends to the end, and she agrees that they will be, forever and always. Later, on a patrol at Ciso River, the Lion Guard, Night Pride, and Kingiza become tense after Bunga senses that something feels wrong.

His statement is proven true when Ullu and Cara fly up to the patrol, frantically reporting that Reth's Pride is viciously attacking Saumu's Pounce in Marsh Forest. Mortified, Rani orders Anga and Baliyo to fetch Kion immediately, and they dash off. The two reach a grassy field, and Anga scouts in the skies for Kion; Baliyo asks her if she has spotted him yet, to which she responds in the negative. Scanning a tall rock escarpment, she spots Kion at the base of it and reports her findings to Baliyo, who exclaims that the place is Cikha Escarpment. They rush there, and Anga calls out Kion's name, summoning his attention. He questions what's wrong, and landing in front of him, she reveals that Reth's Pride is attacking Saumu's Pounce, adding that many are already injured or significantly weakened. Petrified, Kion vows to stop this bloodshed and tear down Reth, rushing to Marsh Forest with Anga and Baliyo. When they arrive, they head into the battle at once, and while Kion goes to fight Kariuki and Slash with Mhina, Anga and Baliyo opt to help Sâhasí and Surak duel Reth. Eventually, Reth is outdone in combat and retreats, but not before warning everyone that their next attack will be much more morbid than before. Shortly after the battle, on another patrol, Anga states that Kion and Mhina have grown closer since fighting Scar's Army and it's beyond clear that they're in love.

When Ullu and Cara reveal that Makucha and his leap are attacking animals in Bamboo Woods, Fuli leads the Lion Guard there along with a few other members of the Night Pride, joining in on the fight. However, Anga, along with Ono, is quickly knocked out of comission, with Anga having sprained her wings and Ono bearing a bad gash on his forehead. Luckily, Bunga comes to the rescue and sprays the army of predators with his stink, making them cough and retreat. The next day, the Lion Guard and Night Pride patrol Rocky Mountains. When Haraka murmurs that it feels like they're being watched, Bunga dismisses this and points out that Anga would have spotted any spy by now. The next day, the Lion Guard and Night Pride grow superstitious on patrol, and Anga protectively wraps her wing around Ono, feeling uncertain as Bunga points out that she would have spotted a hidden predator. After completing the patrol in the Tundra, the Guard and Night Pride head to Desert Plains, where Anga spots Registaan, a camel, stuck in the sand, and she reports her findings. They rush up to him, and Bunga is quick to free the camel, much to his relief. Bunga then asks about the whereabouts of Kion, irritating Fuli, who mentions that he could be at the "Valley of None of Our Business" or the "Field of Be Quiet." Beshte comments that they're nice places, and Ono and Anga agree with him. Later, when Mama Binturong leads her army in a final attack on the Tree of Life, Anga is wounded in the battle and huddles on Beshte's back with Ono. She returns to the battle upon the arrival of Kion, but is too injured to fight and eventually rescued by Kingiza and Rani.

Ono, ecstatic that she's alright, nuzzles her with his beak, and fluttering over to him and the Guard, she declares that the battle is won. Ono agrees, nestling on Beshte's back with her. Weeks later, the Lion Guard has healed from their injuries and step out of the Tree of Life, preparing to head home. Before they do so, Jivin gives them temporary, honorary Night Pride marks. They soon set off on their trip, crossing Giant Lake and playing in the snow (though they move on due to Ono and Anga feeling effects of the cold). Traversing into the Back Lands, they shelter under an acacia tree to rest for a while, and when they set off again, they trek through a narrow stream and through Mirihi Forest, where they help fix a wagtail nest and meet Orji, who climbs into a tree. Midway through, they pause to let Makini collect herbs, and finally, they reach the Iroko Tree. Anga suddenly shouts to look straight ahead, spotting Pride Rock, and Ono exclaims that he can see it too. Anga also mentions that she can see their families. Quickly, the Lion Guard enters the Pride Lands and greets Jasiri. After Kion and Nguruma rush up to the peak of Pride Rock, the Lion Guard and Makini soon join them. Just a short time later, Anga and Ono head home together.
